Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony between VISTIP and KOSME

 

On September 19th, 2022, in Hanoi, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was successfully between the Center for Vietnam Science and Technology Internationalization Promotion (VISTIP) under the Ministry of Science and Technology and Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups of Korea.

The Vietnamese side was represented by Mrs. Bui Thi Huy Hop, Deputy Director in charge of VISTIP and the Korean side was Mr. Kim Moon Hwan, Vice President of KOSME.

Witnessing the signing ceremony, on the Vietnamese side, there were representatives of functional departments of the Ministry of Science and Technology (State Agency for Technology Innovation, Department of Legislation) and senior experts and key staff of VISTIP; On the Korean side, there were representatives from the functional departments of KOSME and leaders of some Korean SMEs in Vietnam.

Before signing the MoU, Mrs. Bui Thi Huy Hop introduced briefly about results that VISTIP has achieved since its establishment, especially emphasized the highlight achievements got with the cooperation and supports from the Korea Small and Medium Enterprises Corporation – SBC (the predecessor of KOSME) from 2014 to present. To implementing early and effectively the signed cooperation contents, Mrs. Bui Thi Huy Hop suggested that immediately after the signing ceremony, both VISTIP and KOSME should prepare a detailed plan for the activities that the two sides discussed to perform in this year of 2022; and continuously plan on activities for the following years.

For his part, Mr. Kim Moon Hwan had given a short presentation about KOSME since its foundation (1978) till now with impressive goals and results achieved through the stages. As a comprehensive support organization for Korean SMEs, KOSME currently has 33 domestic offices, 17 schools for young entrepreneurs and 6 research institutes. According to Mr. Kim Moon Hwan, KOSME has now set up 27 representative offices in strategic locations around the world, in order to support and promote the development of SMEs and start-up enterprises in the host countries through technological innovation and governance. VISTIP and KOSME have been maintaining a friendly cooperation relationship since 2014 – the year KOSME established an office in Hanoi until now.

At the Signing Ceremony, Mr. Kim Moon Hwan expressed his sincere thanks to VISTIP for enthusiastically helping KOSME “a lot during implementing the connection program to support enterprises in the field of personal electric vehicles, APEC consulting program” in 2022. He also pointed out KOSME’s expectation through the signing of this cooperation is “will further promote mutual cooperation in many fields so that the two countries’ enterprises will obtain many mutually beneficial results.” KOSME pledges to do its best so that the cooperation relationship between the two agencies “will not only be a short-term partnership but will become a partnership for sustainable development.”

The signing ceremony of a comprehensive cooperation memorandum to promote cooperation in more fields between VISTIP and KOSME has an incredibly special meaning on the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relation between Vietnam – Korea 1992 – 2022. With their functions, tasks and roles, cooperation activities between VISTIP and KOSME have been and will contribute to strengthening cooperation in developing SMEs, promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, science and technology transfer in Vietnam and Korea to new heights.
