Cooperation Development on Science, Technology and Innovation between VISTIP and JICA

Recently, at the invitation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a delegation led by the leaders of the Center for Vietnam Science and Technology Internationalization Promotion (VISTIP) and some divisiona representatives visited and worked with the JICA Office in Hanoi. Dr. Nishikawa Naotaka – JICA Project Formulation Advisor chaired the reception.
At the meeting, Ms. Bui Thi Huy Hop, Deputy Director in charge of VISTIP, highly appreciated JICA’s attention and communication with VISTIP in the past time. Representatives of both sides shared their goals and development plans for the next period. Accordingly, JICA continues to research and pursue the goal of forming sustainable development projects in Vietnam to consult the Japanese Government for consideration of support. VISTIP expressed its desire to contribute more to catalytic activities, connecting cooperation in science, technology and innovation (STI) associated with the implementation of the Vietnamese Government’s commitment at the 28th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 28).
During the working session, the two sides took the time to discuss key topics related to STI cooperation activities on greenhouse gas inventories, Net-Zero emissions assessment, technology cooperation and advanced solutions to overcome the consequences of climate change. The two sides discussed in details the possibility of building a number of pilot projects for cooperation in training and sharing experiences as well as consulting on the formation of a program to support technology interns in the field of greenhouse gas inventories and assessment of the implementation of Net-Zero commitments in the coming time to report to competent authorities for approval.

At the meeting, JICA representative expressed the willing to continue to coordinate and exchange information with VISTIP to reach more specific cooperation decisions. On behalf of the delegation, Ms. Bui Thi Huy Hop thanked JICA (Hanoi) for taking the time to receive and answer many issues of concern of the members of the delegation.
